Marks Of A Missional Church

A study of First Thessalonians.

The Family of God

Tim Theule | 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 | 5/27/2018

Paul wraps up his first letter to the Thessalonians with a series of reminders about what the family of God in the local church is and does together.  Fitting reminders for us at Grace Central Coast on a Baptism Sunday.

The Day of the Lord

Tim Theule | 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 | 5/20/2018

Is anyone today afraid of judgment?  The Thessalonians were.  Here Paul writes to assure them that, while judgment is definitely coming, it will not be their future, because Christ the judge died so that they might live together with Him.

The Coming of the Lord

Tim Theule | 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 | 5/13/2018

The coming of the Lord is meant to be a comfort for God's people, but too often it has become a subject for speculation and debate.  Here we continue our study of First Thessalonians with a look and exploration of all we learn about the coming of the Lord in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

Work as Love and Witness

Tim Theule | 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 | 5/6/2018

The Gospel applies to all of life. Here in 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12, the Apostle Paul reminds us that our work is an expression of both our love for one another and our witness to the world.

Sexual Holiness

Tim Theule | 1 Thessalonians 3:11-4:8 | 4/29/2018

The Bible is timelessly relevant!  We continue our Marks of a Missional Church series in the book of First Thessalonians with an exploration of Paul's call to sexual holiness.   Sex is one of God's good gifts, but because of the fall sex has been distorted, broken, misused and abused.  The Bible's teaching in this area was just as radical in the first century as it is in the 21st century.

A Heart for God's People

Tim Theule | 1 Thessalonians 2:13-3:13 | 4/22/2018

When we attentively read God’s Word, all sorts of of stuff  . . . insights, observations, questions and more . . . will jump out of the verses at us!

A Family on Mission

Ben Collins | 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12 | 4/15/2018

What comes to mind when you read, 'Relationships'? It's likely a mix of dreams & difficulties, beauty & brokenness, hopes & hardships. But do you also think of relationships as transformational? Gospel-fueled relationships transformed Thessalonica and they can transform the Central Coast as well.

Looking Upward, Outward and Forward

Tim Theule | 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 | 4/8/2018

We kick off our study of First Thessalonians with a look at the first chapter as Paul reminds this young church who they are in God and affirms how they are living for God.  We have much to learn from this missional church!
